Anatomy of an UpShot Casule (single cup capsule that fits Keurig K-cup Brewers and MyCafe Universal brewers)

The UpShot capsule with Thermofresh seal takes a different approach to single cup capsules, but still works in a Bunn MyCafe Universal or Keurig K-cup style brewer.   The UpShot capsules are still individually sealed and nitrogen flushed for freshness.  But you peel off an outer lid and pull the capsule out of its container before you brew.

Packaged UpShot Capsule (Melitta Vienna Roast)
The capsule is sealed, nitrogen flushed for freshness.
When you open the pull tab, the top seal comes off and the fresh ground coffee smell is evident.  A real treat for the senses.   The coffee is loose in the cup, not compressed.
Opened UpShot Capsule (top, container and coffee capsule)
The top of the capsule the holds the coffee is sealed with a clear cover.  The side of the capsule is an open mesh.   It is through the mesh that the coffee escapes and fills your cup.
The Upshot capsule holds a lot of coffee, more than most other solutions on the market.  The Melitta Vienna Roast has 12 grams of coffee. The UpShot capsule can hold more coffee comfortably, up to 13 grams.
The UpShot capsule is made from recyclable plastic.   I am not sure that these can go in compost or green waste, but we will work to find out more.

CoffeeTeaSuperstore.com currently carries the Melitta single cup capsules using the UpShot capsule process.    Four varieties are currently available including:
